Free QPR Training for Families and Community Members

Dear Taunton Public Schools Caregivers,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to you as a valued community member and the extended Taunton Public Schools family. As part of our commitment to mental health awareness and in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, we are excited to invite you to a free Suicide Prevention Awareness Training. This unique opportunity is being sponsored by Taunton Public Schools and is a key part of our campaign to raise awareness about mental health.

We are offering the QPR Training Program, a vital tool in the battle against suicide. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer, which are the three fundamental steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. This is the same training program that our educators are currently taking or have already completed. Our aim is to equip as many people as possible with these critical skills to help safeguard the wellbeing of those around us, especially our children.

We firmly believe that by extending this training to our caregivers and broader community, we can strengthen our collective ability to address mental health needs within our community and ensure that no one feels alone in their struggles.

We warmly invite you to attend one of the three training sessions being offered:

•Saturday, May 20 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

•Tuesday, May 23 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

•Wednesday, May 31 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

All sessions will be held in the Taunton High School Presentation Room, located at 50 Williams Street. This training is not just for professionals – it is for parents, friends, neighbors, and community members who care about the people around them and want to be prepared to help when it is needed most. Please join us in this critical initiative and help us make Taunton a safe, supportive community for all of our children.

Your participation can truly make a difference. To confirm your attendance, or if you have any questions, please contact Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Christopher Baratta. He can be reached via email at [email protected].

Thank you for your time and dedication to our community. We look forward to your participation in this crucial training.
