Thanksgiving Message

Dear Taunton Public School Parents and Caregivers,

As Thanksgiving nears, I would like to extend my warmest thanks to you. Your unwavering support of our school system and involvement in your child's development are critical to their success and the success of the Taunton Public Schools. Let's take a moment to recognize and celebrate the impact we have in the lives of our children.

Reflecting on the current school year, I continue to be inspired by your commitment and our shared values. As a school system, we embraced the goals of stabilizing, healing, and transforming our school environment. We also acknowledge the importance of nurturing a culture that celebrates our community's diversity and that values equity and inclusion. It's reassuring to see our community adapt and thrive to the rapidly changing educational landscape, proof of our shared dedication to our children's futures.

I'm particularly proud of our collaborative work through the Community Input Teams. As a school system, we are committed to enhancing our student discipline practices and therapeutic learning programs. We are revisiting the Taunton Alternative High School and strengthening our social-emotional learning and mental health supports. Your involvement is vital.

We are also in the process of launching an anti-bullying and character education program, which I believe will enhance school culture and climate. As Simon Sinek said, "People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it." As educators, our mission is to empower and uplift the students we are fortunate to serve. Our hard work and commitment continue to bear fruit: student enrollment has risen to 8,028, attendance rates have improved, and chronic absenteeism is declining. These are your successes, too, a reflection of your commitment to your child's education.

In this season of giving thanks, let's continue to cherish each other, fostering a nurturing and positive environment for all our students. Your role in our community is irreplaceable. Thank you for being a central part of Taunton Public Schools' success.

Respectfully,

John J. Cabral
