TAUNTON—Taunton Public Schools Superintendent John J. Cabral is pleased to announce Shannon Turner as the new director of human resources. Turner brings a wealth of experience in human resource management and educational leadership to the role.
Turner has been an integral part of the educational community for over a decade, most recently serving as the assistant principal at Plymouth North High School. Her role was pivotal in establishing an effective learning climate, implementing School Committee policies, and overseeing staff recruitment, training, and evaluation. Her contributions to professional development, curriculum development, and community relations have been instrumental in the school’s success.
“We are thrilled to welcome Shannon Turner to our leadership team,” said Superintendent Cabral. “Her extensive experience and dedication to fostering a positive educational environment make her the ideal candidate for this role. I am confident that she will be a tremendous asset to our district and help us continue attracting and retaining the best educators for our students.”
Turner’s career has been defined by her commitment to student life and discipline, professional development, and organizational development. At Bishop Connolly High School, she served as vice principal of student life, where she managed student discipline, coordinated safety drills, and collaborated with local police and fire departments. Her diverse background, including roles such as director of technology and English teacher, has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the needs and challenges of educational institutions.
As the new director of human resources, Turner will be responsible for overseeing all human resource functions within the district. This includes the recruitment, hiring, and professional development of staff. Her strategic vision and hands-on approach will be crucial in supporting the district’s goals and ensuring a high-quality educational experience for all students.
“I am honored to take on the role of director of human resources and to work with such a dedicated team of educators and administrators,” Turner said. “I look forward to contributing to our schools' continued success and supporting our staff in providing the best possible education for our students.”
Turner holds a Master of Education in Leadership from Bridgewater State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching English from Bridgewater State College. Turner lives in East Taunton with her husband and enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
