TAUNTON—Superintendent of Taunton Public Schools John J. Cabral is pleased to announce Amanda Emard's appointment as the new principal of Edmund Hatch Bennett Elementary School. Emard brings a strong background in educational leadership and a commitment to improving the learning environment.

“We are pleased to welcome Amanda Emard as the new principal of Edmund Hatch Bennett Elementary School,” said Superintendent Cabral. “Her experience, dedication to student success, and fresh approach to education make her an excellent fit for our school community. We are confident that Emard will continue to enhance the school's standards and foster a supportive environment for all students.”

Emard has more than 15 years of experience in education. She joined the Taunton Public Schools District in 2009 and worked in special education at Caleb Barnum and then Edward F. Leddy Preschools. For the past three years, Emard has been assistant principal at East Taunton Elementary School, where she led school operations, supported staff, and engaged with the community. Her efforts in implementing the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success, have significantly improved student behavior and overall school climate.

“I am excited to join the Bennett Elementary School community,” said Emard. “I am committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive. I look forward to working with the faculty, staff, and parents to uphold the high standards at Bennett Elementary.”

Emard holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Bridgewater State University and a master’s in moderate disabilities PreK-8 from American International College.

Throughout her career, Emard has built strong relationships with students, parents, and staff. She has also taken an innovative approach to curriculum development and instructional leadership, which we believe will bring an exciting new chapter to Bennett Elementary. Her plans for the school focus on academic excellence, student well-being, and community engagement.

Emard lives in Swansea with her husband and two sons.
