Dear Taunton Public School Parents and Caregivers,
As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to thank you for your support of our schools and dedication to your student’s growth and development. Your support is vital to their success and our success as a district. When I reflect on the things I am most thankful for this holiday season, I include the opportunity to have a positive impact on the children in our community.
This year, I was inspired by an anonymous quote: “If serving is beneath you, then leadership is beyond you.” This sentiment has been our guiding principle, pushing us to have a growth mindset, be good teammates to each other, and foster a school community rooted in a sense of belonging where every student, staff member, and caregiver feels valued and supported.
We’ve taken those principles into our work to improve student attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism. Our efforts are already showing promising results, and I thank you for your part in helping your student get to school.
We also have important work still to come. This year, we will update the district’s strategic plan, aligning our goals with the news of our diverse school community and preparing for a bright future. These initiatives reflect our collective commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive district. Additionally, we are exploring the best long-term use of the 2 Hamilton Street property.
As Simon Sinek, one of my favorite writers, reminds us, "People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it." Our purpose as educators is clear: to empower, uplift, and inspire the students we serve. Through this shared mission and collective effort, we are transforming Taunton Public Schools into a place where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential.
In this season of gratitude, let us celebrate the bonds that unite us and recommit to serving one another and our students. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community. Together, we are building something truly special.
Respectfully,
John J. Cabral, Superintendent of Schools
