Welcome to Taunton Public Schools!

Congratulations, and welcome to Taunton Public Schools! We're excited to have you join our team.

This page will guide you through the onboarding process and provide access to the forms, instructions, and resources you'll need before your Human Resources appointments. Complete each section below to ensure you've finished all required paperwork, training, and documentation before your first day of employment.

Before You Begin

Before beginning the onboarding process, please have the following available:

  • A government-issued photo ID
  • Official transcripts (if applicable)
  • Banking information (voided check) for direct deposit or Direct Deposit Authorization form
  • Teaching or professional license information (if applicable)
  • Access to a printer for forms requiring handwritten signatures

Need printed forms? If you do not have access to a printer, printed copies of all required forms are available from the Taunton Public Schools Human Resources Office.

Some sections include links to external websites to complete required state or City of Taunton onboarding requirements. Be sure to complete all required items before your Human Resources appointments.

The Onboarding Process

Depending on your position, you may need to complete one or two appointments before your scheduled TPS Human Resources appointment. The TPS Human Resources appointment is the final step in the onboarding process.

Taunton Public Schools Forms & Requirements

Complete the following Taunton Public Schools forms and requirements before your Human Resources appointment. Select each item below for additional instructions and required forms.

CORI Acknowledgment

The Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) Acknowledgment Form authorizes Taunton Public Schools to conduct the required criminal offender record check as part of the hiring process.

Before Your Human Resources Appointment:

  • Download and complete the CORI Acknowledgment Form.
  • Enter "Taunton Public Schools" as the organization name.
  • Bring the completed form to your Human Resources appointment.
  • Bring a valid government-issued photo ID for in-person identity verification.

Your identity must be verified by the Human Resources Office before your CORI background check can be processed.

Social Security Statement (SSA-1945)

The Social Security Statement (SSA-1945) is a required federal form for eligible public employees. It explains how employment in a position not covered by Social Security may affect future Social Security benefits.

Please complete the form and bring it with you to your Human Resources appointment.

District Policies

As part of the onboarding process, all new employees are required to review the following district policies and employment information before completing the District Policy Summary Acknowledgment Form.

After reviewing the required policies, complete and sign the District Policy Summary Acknowledgment Form and bring it to your Human Resources appointment.

Official Transcripts

If your position requires official transcripts, they may be submitted using one of the following methods:

  • Electronic Delivery

Request that your college or university send official electronic transcripts directly to: personnel@tauntonschools.org

  • Paper Transcripts

Official transcripts may be mailed directly from your college or university to the Taunton Public Schools Human Resources Office, or mailed to you and delivered in the original sealed envelope.

Please note: If you deliver your official transcripts to the Human Resources Office, they must remain in the original sealed envelope to be considered official.

Massachusetts State Requirements

Complete the following Massachusetts state requirements before your Human Resources appointment. Select each item below for additional information and links to complete these requirements.

Conflict of Interest Law Training

All Taunton Public Schools employees are required to complete the Massachusetts Conflict of Interest Law online training.

After completing the training, print and bring both of the following documents to your Human Resources appointment:

  • State Ethics Conflict of Interest Law Training Certificate
  • Acknowledgment of Receipt of the Summary of the Conflict of Interest Law Certificate

Both certificates are required. Employees frequently overlook the Acknowledgment of Receipt certificate because it is generated separately after completing the training.

Fingerprinting

Massachusetts law requires fingerprint-based national and state criminal history checks for employees working in public schools.

Before scheduling your fingerprinting appointment, please note the following:

  • Schedule your appointment through IdentoGO.
  • Use District Code: 02930000 when scheduling your appointment.
  • The cost of fingerprinting is the responsibility of the employee.

If you have been fingerprinted within the past seven years, request that a Letter of Suitability be sent to the Taunton Public Schools Human Resources Office.

City of Taunton Employment Requirements

Complete the following City of Taunton employment requirements before your scheduled TPS Human Resources appointment. Select each item below for additional information and links to complete these requirements.

City Employment Forms

The City of Taunton maintains the employment and payroll forms required for all new employees.

The required forms include:

  • Form W-4
  • Massachusetts Form M-4
  • Form I-9
  • Employee Emergency Contact Form
  • Direct Deposit Form
  • Health Insurance Responsibility Disclosure Form
  • Social Security Statement (SSA-1945)

Please note: The City of Taunton also requires a Social Security Statement (SSA-1945). Although you completed an SSA-1945 as part of your Taunton Public Schools paperwork, a separate SSA-1945 is required for the City of Taunton.

The City maintains these forms separately from Taunton Public Schools. Please complete all required City forms even if similar information has already been provided to Taunton Public Schools.

Complete all required City forms before submitting them to the City of Taunton Human Resources Office.

When the TPS Human Resources Office contacts you to begin the onboarding process, you will receive a personalized City Human Resources Verification Form. Bring this form to your City of Taunton Human Resources appointment and return the completed form to the TPS Human Resources Office during your scheduled TPS Human Resources appointment.

Retirement Enrollment

Retirement enrollment requirements vary depending on your position.

Employees Eligible for the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System (MTRS)

Employees eligible for MTRS will enroll through the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System (MTRS).

Employees Enrolled in the Taunton Retirement System

Employees enrolled in the Taunton Retirement System must:

  • Schedule an appointment with the Taunton Retirement Board.
  • Bring your original birth certificate to your appointment.
  • Bring the Retirement Board Meeting Form to your appointment.
  • Have the Taunton Retirement Board complete and sign the form.
  • Bring the completed Retirement Board Meeting Form to your scheduled TPS Human Resources appointment.
